The Red Door Project are a community-based addiction service that
operates from a harm reduction approach. We aim to provide a
psycho-social support and interventions specifically designed as a
response to the needs of drug and alcohol users within our community,
with the ultimate aim of improving participants quality of life. The
Red Door Project focuses on creating a supportive, respectful, and
trusting environment of equal opportunities. The Project empowers
participants to identify and value their inherent skills and to
utilise and build on these skills as part of their own recovery
journey. It also encourages the development of new avenues of
exploration through education, training, and personal development
through a therapeutic and holistic approach. The project will
facilitate individual needs enabling participants to be open to future
possibilities of change.

In response to the growing numbers of parents and families presenting
to The Red Door Project, we are recruiting a Family Support Worker, to
work in conjunction with the Social Worker on staff, to provide
intensive wrap around services to the families and young people who
are currently participants of The Red Door Project. It is hoped that
following successful implementation of the role will see it open to
external referrals from partner agencies such as TUSLA, An Garda
Síochana and The Probation Service.

The Family Support Worker will provide individualised support to the
young people and their families. The post holder will be familiar with
person-centred, relationship-based, and trauma informed care, and will
use these principles to guide their practice. The successful candidate
will aim to increase families pro-social behaviours, resilience and
positive community engagements, with the ultimate goal of the post to
reduce the intergenerational cycles of addiction, criminality, and
trauma that continue to impact our participants and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* To establish relationships with families and young people that is
genuine, empathetic, and based on unconditional positive regard.
* Work closely with the families, young people, professionals, and
other relevant services to identify the needs and strengths of
families.
* Work in partnership with families and local stakeholders to create
and action a care plan that addresses the needs of the family system,
with the aim to interrupt the intergenerational cycle of addiction,
criminality, and trauma.
* Use evidence based/informed approaches, provide group work,
individual work, skills-based programmes and recreational activities
as appropriate for parents, caregivers and young people.
* Facilitate and participate in all aspects of planned
interventions.
* Ability to be proactive, use own initiative and work effectively
within a pressurised environment.
* Ensure compliance with The Red Door Projects policies, procedures
and guidelines.
* Excellent IT skills
* Completing accurately and on time, all of the administrative
requirements of the position.
* Attend and participate in internal and external meetings as
required and act as advocate for each service user.
* Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and other
services engaged with families and young people in the catchment area.
* Administration, budget, and resource management including
compiling plans and reports as required by the funder.
* Engage effectively in personal supervision with line manager to
ensure continuous professional development.
* Flexibility in relation to hours of work to meet the needs of the
work. Work during unsocial hours may be required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* A Professional Qualification (Level 7 as per the National Framework
of Qualifications) in Social Work, Youth and Community Work, Social
Care or related Social Science Discipline, Diploma or Degree level).
* Minimum of 1 years’ relevant recent experience, working directly
with young people with complex needs in a structured environment e.g.,
residential setting, youth project, social care/work.
* Proficient in the use of IT software, to include Microsoft Office
Applications
* Full drivers licence and access to own car.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* A Professional Qualification (Level 8 as per the National Framework
of Qualifications) in Social Work, Youth and Community Work, Social
Care or related Social Science Discipline, Diploma or Degree level).
* Minimum of 2 years’ relevant recent experience, 1 of which is
post qualification, working directly with young people with complex
needs in a structured environment e.g., residential setting, youth
project, social care/work.
